A little Birdy Told Me.
I know, just what we need another online poker site. This unnamed pro is apparently willing to invest his passion for the game, knowledge of the industry, and a large chunk of his bankroll in an effort to produce a site of note.
I have been told that a development and marketing team has been formed and we can expect a beta version within 45 days. This is quite a risk in todays competitive online poker market, even if you ignore the ever looming ban of online poker for Americans.
Just recently launched Jungle Poker has invested several million dollars to get up and running, including $100,000 in freeroll money they gave away last month. I stopped in there today and found less than 100 players at their ring games. I clear sign that online poker is a tough nut to crack without network affiliation.
Keep checking back, I'll post more information when Tweety returns.

Write Your Congressman
The U.S. House Judiciary Committee passed review of H.R. Bill 4777 (legislation banning online poker) by a vote of 25 to 11. At this point the bill is forwarded to the House of Representatives for discussion and vote.
It's time to get involved. I watched a webcast of the proceedings. As you would expect there is mention of how a bill similar to this was shot down previously by the lobbying efforts of Jack Abramhoff and it appeared to me that this bill has been introduced by Rep Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) as some form of political retribution.
During the discussions there is talk of money laundering, organized crime and even the suggestion that online gambling is funding terrorist activities. There is talk of wanting to protect the State's Attorney Generals as they are the ones that should be deciding who gets the biggest share of the gambling pie and not unregulated offshore corporations.
One of the biggest arguments presented is that of "protecting children from being taken advantage of by any form of online predator". There was continued debate in regard to gambling in the form of horse and dog racing tracks. So much so, that at one point a vote to an amendment to the bill was called for with a yes vote to be indicated by saying "woof". Apparently the bill allows betting on horse racing over the internet but not on dog racing. One observation of mention is that throughout the entire 1 hour 21 minute discussion the word poker was only uttered one time.
Here is what the bills sponsor Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) had to say about gambling:
I'm sure these are the arguments you will see brought before the House of Representitives. Please take a few minutes and write you House Representative and let him know that you are against HR 4777 the proposed legislation that would stop us all from playing poker online.
Let them know that Party Poker is not run from some cave in Afghanistan. That the friends you play poker with online are not degenerate gamblers looking to take advantage of minors by stealing there lunch money.(how does a 12 year old get a credit card anyway.) Let them know that poker is a game of skill, where the outcome is not a totally random event that players have no control over, as in other forms of gambling. Let them know that the people they represent want online poker to be regulated and taxed, Its a 12 billion dollar industry that could be utilized for the good of the nation and that you and I don't want to see it banned.
I found a link today that provides a way to send a e-mail to your Congressman by filling out a online form. Like anything Government related it is a pain in the ass. It requires that you enter your 4 digit zip code extension. Not your zip code but the extension. The site does at least give you a means to find this 4 digit number that is the golden key to writing your Congressman online. Again I urge you to take a few minutes and write your Congressman, I did.

Congress wants to ban my blog
Whoooooa Nelly, back the freaking horse up. Are you telling me that my Blog will be shut down because it is gambling related. That not only will I be stopped from playing poker online but I can't even talk about it. Guys, this legislation is dangerous. It seriously stomps on our constitutional rights.
In the poker forums I visit the general consensus is that there is no way this bill will pass. That its not a threat yet because its only in the House of Representatives and would still have to make it through the Senate. This may be the case, but please be aware of how difficult it would be to overturn this legislation if it were to pass and keep in mind the bone head moves our Government has made lately. After this country's misguided search for WMD's, the disastrous response to hurricane Katrina and the apparent incompetence of our leaders of late. Would it really be surprising if this bill passed. I think not.
We have got to make a change in the way this country is being run and the only way to do that is with our vote. Please follow this link and let your legislators know. If they choose to vote for this ridiculous bill, you will not be supporting them in the future. That not only will you not vote for them but you will campaign to see that they are not re-elected.
You can read more and find a list of Representatives at The Poker Players Alliance.

Sabina Gadecki is New WPT Hostess
Well this of course started a two day search in an effort to find a likeness of the infamous young model and lead me to wonder if this young lady really existed. Apparently I was not the only one as quite a few poker blogs I ran across were asking the same question. Who is this mysterious woman? Of course my mind is getting carried away at this point with images of every Playboy centerfold I've ever seen flashing through my mind. With most of my resources exhausted I was forced to bring in the Cooler. That's right, I knew the raging testosterone of a young man who likes to call himself sexybeast could find this woman if any one could. Sure enough, one instant message and 10 minutes later I had enough pictures of Sabina to fill her mothers scrapbook. Google look out there is a new search engine in town.
Here is what Cooler found and thanks a ton to B.J. Nemeth and his great photo's

Beware of Poker Tools Software
The Rake Back Calculator, RBCalc.exe that was being distributed by a site called checkraised.com, claimed to be a program that calculated the amount of rake a site was taking. In actuality it was a Trojan horse that would place executable files on your hard drive and used a rootkit driver to conceal what it was doing, which was gathering information on your poker accounts. It would obtain your poker site user name and password and would then log in and play on your account against the hackers account and intentionally lose until it had captured your whole bankroll.
The malware reportedly worked on accounts at Partypoker.com, Empirepoker, Eurobetpoker and Pokernow. and was discovered by F-Secure's Blacklight rootkit detection technology.
Checkraise has since removed the program from its site but this should be a warning to us all to beware of new poker tools software in the future.

Jungle Poker
I don't usually promote new sites but this one caught my interest. They are holding a bunch of freerolls up until the 19th of May in an effort to get players to there site. I played there for a short while today and liked the software and didn't experience any problems. Here is what their promotion says:
Jungle Poker is giving away tens of thousands of dollars of free BankRoll money. All you have to do is play in our FreeRoll tournaments, and all the money you win will be yours to play with on Jungle Poker.
How does it work?
From Apr 28 to May 19, Jungle Poker will be holding special FreeRoll tournaments - completely free to enter for everyone. All your winnings will be waiting for you the day of Jungle Poker’s official Grand Opening date of May 20. Use this money to enter Real Money Tournaments and/or Ring Games as you wish.
What are the conditions?
Use this bankroll to play any Tournaments or Ring Games here at Jungle Poker. However, before you can withdraw money from your account, you must clear of this promotion by meeting one of the two conditions:
1. For each dollar of bankroll, you must play a total of 2x raked hands in Ring Games. For instance, if you won $100 in BankRoll, you must play at least 200 raked hands at any limits
2. You invest your Bankroll amount into Jungle Poker Tournaments
Can it possibly get better than this?
Yes it can. Jungle Poker wants to send you to the 2006 WSOP in Las Vegas this summer. All players who place in the money in any of these Win Your Bankroll tournaments, will immediately qualify for our May 20th “WSOP 2006 Seat Giveaway” tournament, where the winner gets an all-inclusive seat to the WSOP. Please see the “WSOP 2006 Seat Giveaway” Page for more details.

Poker Media
I have added a drop down menu in the side bar that is dedicated to poker media links, magazines, radio, podcasts and newspapers. These are great sources of information available to you when your away from the poker table. While your colleagues at work are listening to Rush Limbaugh or other AM talk radio, tune into Holdem Radio. Although most of the poker magazines offer free digital copies online I'm sure your bathroom library could use some updated material, so subscribe to one of the many poker magazines. Beats the hell out of having your laptop on your knees when your TCB, if you know what I mean.
The links in the new drop down are by no means complete but at least a good start. I will keep adding new stuff as I find it so keep checking back, or if you know of a new media link let us know, that's what the comments section is for.

Secret to Winning Poker
What you don't know and i'm about to tell you is the key, the secret to winning poker that you have been searching for and no one has been willing to share with you. Most are scared to even mention it because of its black nature. Once you take this step your old game will be a thing of the past. Those times where you had 15 outs and still couldn't manage to catch a card will be over. You will no longer be the short stack. Your suckouts will amaze and astonish.
Prepare to explode your bankroll because here is the recipe to your success in poker but beware once you cross this line you can never go back.
Ok, for starters the best time to cast spells is during a full moon. You need to scrounge up a caldron. These can be hard to find so if it a poses a problem you can get by with a beer cooler but you will only have good luck when you play drunk, but hey, thats a small price to pay, don't you think. Next fill the caldron half full of water and drop a silver coin into it. Position the cauldron so that the light from the moon shines into the water. Gently sweep your hands just above the surface, symbolically gathering the moon's silver. While doing this, say:
"Lovely Lady of the Moon
Bring to me your wealth right soon.
Fill my hands with silver and gold.
All you can give, my purse can hold."
Repeat three times. When finished, pour the water upon the earth. It is done.
Now if your like me and you could screw up a wet dream and not even be in it, then you might want to hire a witch to cast this spell for you. (Some things are better left to professionals) If you need help locating one just send me a email and i'll get you in touch with my ex-wife. Oops, my bad, she would be a bitch and you need a witch. Try here this should help.
